This is one of my favorite non guest episodes. Sometimes you've got to go dark, cause sometimes life is dark. Representing the real!

So since y'all brought up The Nightstalker, I thought I'd take a moment to relate a story from my youth.
Back in the 90's my sister was dating this guy, who was into mass murderers/serial killers and he ended up moving in with us.
He had written to Charles Manson many times, and finally, after sending him a birthday card with some cash in it, ended up as his pen pal. He used to take his mother's credit card, and we would buy stuff to send to Charlie. Typical prison care package stuff. Cigarettes, coffee, etc…(Incidentally he only drank Folgers) After a while he ended up getting on Charlie's call list, and we would get phone calls from him a couple of times a week. You'd answer the phone and would hear a recorded message saying “You have a collect call from Corcoran State Penitentiary from” Charlie or The Coyote or Jesus Christ or whatever other fucked up thing he would come up with.
Anyhow, to make a long story short, my sister's boyfriend started talking to other killers, and one day told our mom that Richard Ramirez wanted him on his call list.
My mom flipped out and said she absolutely did not want “that Satanic evil bastard” calling my house.
When I told a friend about it she cracked up and said “Y'all are the only family I know that has a list of serial killers that you will and will not accept collect calls from.”
Needless to say those were strange times in my life.

I accidentally hit submit multiple times and can't figure out how to delete this post.
So I'm admitting my mistake rather than trying to cover it up.

Datsusara - I feel the same about this. The catholic church has this coming to it. No apologies are needed.

Panchanito - I am surprised your mom allowed that to happen. I don't think I would allow a guy who likes serial killer's that much into my house. Although, I had a best friend who was really into Charles Manson and had painted his picture on the back of his leather jacket. They actually wrote an article in the newspaper about my friend because of his weird obsession.

Funny thing is, my mom ended up talking to Manson nearly as much as my sister's boyfriend.

This was a great podcast, thanks guys.

I like Rich, I still don't understand why he is waiting on a ticket to Guantanamo Bay. What has he done? Pissed of some religious folk?

Hi everyone,
As always thanks for listening and for all of the great comments both positive and negative.
I've heard more than a few questions as to what the “waiting for my one way ticket to Guantanamo” opening line is all about. It is not that I think I'm super controversial or planning some sort of attack on America. I love this country, I grew up an Army brat and while I think there are hundreds of things we could improve (those money grubbing boot-licking corporate money slaves known as the U.S. Congress being the first), I really feel we are the great hope for the world.
The Guantanamo crack has everything to do with the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 that President Obama signed(with a signing statement saying he would never use the power)that allows the US military to have the power to detain Americans suspected of involvement in terrorism without charge or trial and imprison them for an indefinite period of time. That means if someone drops a dime on you about real or unreal rumors of your activities, you can find yourself permanently detained, without anyone knowing where you have gone and with no right to a trial. This is a clear violation of constitutional principles and of the Bill of Rights and it is not the country our brave veterans have fought and died to protect. I we wanted to be old school Russia or current China, this is the kind of power we would give the government. Oh wait, we already have.
Hey, what happened to Rich, it seems like he just, disappeared…..

I have been living with a formal Catholic women for 15 years. When we met she was unaware of the scope of the atrocities the church had committed. At that time her issuer with Catholics was the amount of guilt they put on parishioners. Most of the guilt was applied to things they had no control over. My sister-in-law a devoted Catholic is living with stage four cancer. One of her biggest worries is she will not see us and the rest of the family in heaven. As we are not true believing baptized Catholics.I would prefer she used that energy on living and enjoying what is left of her life. However that wonderful guilt from her religion has a strong hold on her.
