Do I actually need different crates for different jobs or is one type enough?

Right now we've got a mishmash of whatever was lying around, some of it cracked and none of it matching, and it's slowing down picking because nothing stacks properly. I started reading about the different types of plastic crates and realised there's a whole world of options depending on whether you need ventilation, reinforced bases or stackability, and I'm not sure where to start. Has anyone here standardised their crates and found it actually made a difference to efficiency, or did you just buy whatever was cheapest and regret it later? I'd also like to know which types survive being left out in the sun, because half our stock ends up in the yard. quote
