Thoughts on audio/recording quality

A previous question was asked about what the purpose of this forum (Recording) really is. I voiced a bit of why it exists in that topic, but I wanted to go a step further and actually ask the listeners what they thought about the recording quality of the show. We want Daniele's beautiful Italian voice to be heard in the most eardrum-soothing of ways, but it's not always apparent to us since we're mostly concerned with the episode itself.

Can we do better? We do this on a shoe-string budget, but maybe there's ways to kick it up a notch, if you know what I mean.

I've listened to every one of the DTPs and have found the audio quality to be pretty good. I've never had difficulty understanding what anyone said. Very little attenuation there.

sound quality is good, even the skype with Dan Carlin was probably the best phone-in podcasts I've ever heard from a podcast. But the sound effects.. c'mon, that shits gotta go.
