What do you do with a long gap after hotel checkout?

Our hotel wants us out by 11 in the morning, but our flight home isn't until almost 10 at night. I really don't want to spend the last day sitting in an airport, but dragging suitcases around the city for hours doesn't sound great either. We’ll probably leave the bags somewhere and use the afternoon for one last meal and a couple of places we missed. How do you usually plan those awkward hours between checkout and heading to the airport?

That last day can be one of the nicest parts of the trip because there's no pressure to cram in another huge sightseeing list. Drop the bags at a luggage storage spot, pick one neighborhood you haven't wandered around yet, and stay fairly close to the route you'll take to the airport. I'd leave plenty of time for a long lunch too, because that's a much better goodbye to a city than killing three hours at the gate.

I'd keep the final afternoon loose because something always gets missed earlier in the trip. Maybe there's a cafe you never made it to, a market you walked past, or a neighborhood you wanted another hour in. You can see what to do after checkout before airport here: https://todoway.com/ . Add the time you actually have left and look for a couple of stops that fit naturally before you need to leave. That gives you a real last day without turning it into another packed itinerary.
