I have just finished On The Warrior's Path for the second time and feel like it would make sense to have a dedicated place where people can discuss similar ideas. I posted this in the book thread but want to thank Daniele again; he has turned me onto so many different ideas through his books and conversations, and has also been part of a discussion of existing ideas. I had always been interested in ‘hero-modelling’ and how it can be a conduit through which you can change your life. Since I was young I have had both real and fictional characters driving me to work harder at whatever my chosen endeavours were. This is a similar idea to the warrior spirit; if you follow ideas reflected in someone you admire (who may be fictional), then you can direct your life on more positive paths. Using hero modelling (sometimes unintentionally) I have learnt many skills and pushed myself out of some seriously sticky situations. To this day I am still finding that balance, maintaining discipline, learning new skills, finding newer information and discovering more enriching world views. My current pursuits are a degree despite illness, brazilian jib-jitsu and fitness, I'm writing as much as possible and I'm meditating most days. I just thought it would be a good place for people to discuss the idea of being your own hero, embracing ‘the samurai-hippie’ spirit, and living your life in a way that makes you proud yourself. I know a lot of people have been genuinely inspired by people like Daniele, Duncan Trussell and Joe Rogan. PS: I also share my birthday with Miyamoto Musashi so I'm samurai as a motherfucker….honest |

I've decided I'm going to pick up my writing - aiming for 1000 words a day to start and will scale up appropriately. I have written a few essays, more like rants, and really enjoy the satisfaction from creating something engaging. I need something to balance out the monotony that is an undergraduate degree in the UK. |

My heroes has answered my questions and made me more aware, i feel priveliged to “hang out” with people like Danielle and the deathsquad. They are keys that unlock the truth in people, mirrors that shows us our unbalances. Are you into diary writing? Its incredible how much unknowned we meet during the day, but forget to reflect upon |

I do ice baths for 10 minutes twice a day, (morning and evening) I quit caffeine and nicotine on weekdays. I aim to become an history teacher because i´ve experienced that stabil growth is whats up. I prefer practical writing that benefits me in the moment, for example to reflect about being in love with a girl, but not by grinding the words into poetry. I think the “live your dream” is to much grind and not enough fun. |

I recently heard Duncan talking about doing things you don't like or are scared to do. For me I think it will be not wimping out of the muy thai class that is back to back with the jiu jitsu class just because it wears me out and I like to have energy so I am better when rolling in class. I know if I just stick to then I will probably improve in both and gain some balls while I'm at it.
Don't worry…everything's gonna be alright
