Guns and Liberals

Now that I've got your attention and this is about guns and liberals so I'm not pulling a bait and switch here. I was listening to the podcast with Thad and he brought up a point that has really been irritating me and that is the idea of many Liberals believing or saying that they are for personal freedom when they absolutely are just as bat shit crazy as religious fundamentalists. I realized this while speaking with a few friends who are liberals and of course the issue of firearms came up because apparently “you can't be a Buddhist and carry firearms”. They reason that it is okay to use deadly force to take firearms from legal gun owning citizens for the safety of our society simply because those that own firearms have different views than they do. Now who, oh who would think it was okay to murder millions of people for having a different set of beliefs? Surely this has never happened before. They seriously could not see the parallels between this thought process and wars carried out in the name of God. |

It's a tricky situation because you already have guns; so by taking them away it becomes a matter of civil liberties rather than safety. People blame SSRIs etc, but where are the European shooters? It just isn't a problem because it's a completely different gun culture, to the point where it isn't a v.fruitful comparison. It's a fact that your gun culture is the reason for all the shooters; those people may be fucked up but if they were in the UK they'd have a much, much smaller chance of getting guns to shoot school up. That being said, I agree that many so called liberals, and even some ‘libertarians’ are not for freedoms. I wouldn't go so far to say they are all ‘as bat shit crazy as religious fundamentalists’. Many of them are rational and it is a valid point of view. But it is true that many people have dualistic thinking on the issue. Dualistic thinking is rife, particularly is such divisive issues such as the gun control debate. I'm in the UK so so I can't find many fucks to give. But I respect that you have to fight for civil liberty, and wish you all the luck in the world with that. |

My most prominent thought on the gun subject is that these crazy people that go shooting in public are simply begging for attention and getting thrills off of darkness. I believe this because they are not trying to efficiently kill as many people as possible. It isn't as if they are remaining masked or plotting this out, they are just a bunch of idiots who get off on the idea of doing it, then actually go do it. These aren't self righteous unibomber types, but rather some whinny bitch. Sure the unibomber was a psychopath but at least he believed in something and had some motivation other than attention. More importantly I don't think these shooters would get too many shots off if somebody else in the situation filled them full of bullets. Fuck nobody having guns, EVERYONE should have a gun. Then again I am from south Texas.
Don't worry…everything's gonna be alright

The attack on semi automatic rifles is the most ridiculous part. They only count for 3% of all gun violence. more people were killed by hammers last year. If the liberals, which i am pretty liberal, wanted to make a real impact they would go after handguns. Most anti-gun people have no idea about firearms in general and just follow the knee jerk reaction everyone else is having. Like people that no matter what support Obama because he is a Democrat. Ridiculous. They level of ignorance we see everyday is because of the media and the division it causes over repeating lose facts. |
