I think a good question would be something about what history shows us about the human character. This isn't the best example, but something alot of cultures have had in common are martial arts, religion and law which could be ways of making them feel more safe and secure. I like the stories of history, but many think the point is what you learn from it. I like to think about how all things can apply to my life or making me better in strategy also. It is a hard question to answer briefly, but what do you think history teaches us about people?
Don't worry…everything's gonna be alright

This sounds like an incredibly boring question, but the guy has such a captivating and smooth style and appears so articulate, I wonder about the actual mechanics of the podcast. How much is fully scripted, how much is improv, how many takes to get it so slick etc. Also while we're at it, another boring practicalities question - from what I can tell he operates almost exclusively on donations. I'd be interested to know if he's able to make a living doing what he's doing (I really hope so). I guess if I hear that he's able to put food on the table as a result of people's honesty then it'd semi-restore my faith in humanity! |

I feel that the crossing of the Rubicon has a connotation of being an extremely significant event and a kind of point of no return for Caesar. However, Sulla had marched on Rome earlier; are the two actions not basically the same? Why is the crossing of the Rubicon such a big deal when a precedent, not an insignificant force in the Roman Republic, had already been set for such actions? |

I apologize in advance if we don't get to use your question when we record. We have a ton of questions on our own plus the many that you guys have brought forth. We'll only be able to get to a few, but hopefully we'll get Dan multiple times so we can cover more questions next time. This episode should be out at the end of August. |

Does history have paradigm shifts like in science where people stop repeating themselves and change in a fundamental way? Seems like if history is doomed to repeat then the future is limited by what has happened before. I feel like the future is a chance for us to make such a radically different history that we can break free from the past. |
